Amelia "Amy" Jean Rhodes Winchester, 43, of Advance was born Dec. 18, 1959, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of the late Bill E. and Jean F. Rhodes, and died Dec. 27, 2002, in Fayetteville, Ark., due to injuries sustained in a car accident. During the last year and a half, Mrs. Winchester was the Middle School counselor at Woodland R-IV School District in Marble Hill. Prior to being employed at Woodland School, she was the counselor for Advance School District. She was a past president for the Southeast Missouri School Counselor Association. Among other positions on the governing board for this organization, she was a former president-elect and treasurer; she was the current newsletter editor. She was also a past member of the governing board for Missouri School Counselor Association. Mrs. Winchester was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Abby Winchester of the home; a sister, Kathy Kinder of Sikeston; and a brother, Billy Rhodes of Advance. She was preceded in death by her mother and her father. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Winchester memorial service was conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, with Rev. Tom Zych officiating. Memorials may be made to the "Amy Winchester Memorial Scholarship" which will be given at Advance High School and Woodland High School. PAID
