Donald Hoots

Donald "Mickey" Hoots, the son of the late William and Effie Burkhart Hoots, was born on Sept. 19, 1945, in Bell City and died at his home in Morehouse on Dec. 29, 2002, at the age of 57. Mr. Hoots had lived in Bell City and Morehouse most of his life. He had worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the First General Baptist Church in Morehouse, the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Eagle Aerie. Surviving are one son, Charles Ray Hoots of Scott City; one daughter, Lori Michelle Hoots of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren; one brother, Buddy Hoots of Morley; and three sisters, Louise Loveless of Morley, Shirley Callow of Advance, and Betty Hovis of Dexter. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at the First General Baptist Church in Morehouse. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in the First General Baptist Church in Morehouse with the Rev. Randy Thomas of Sikeston officiating. Interment will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
