Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff for Maxine M. Wheelis, 81, of Windsor Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of De Soto, and Poplar Bluff, who died early Tuesday morning, at the Brierfield Manor Care Center in Youngstown. She was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Poplar Bluff, the daughter of Charley and Anna Lee Colvan Woodruff. She moved to Youngstown eight years ago from Poplar Bluff. Prior to their retirement, she and her husband resided in De Soto where Mr. Wheelis served in law enforcement for 32 years. She is survived by her husband, Theodore L. Wheelis whom she married April 8, 1939; two daughters, Gilda L. Riser of Canfield, Ohio, and Lisa Williamson of Youngstown, Ohio; and one son, Ronald G. Wheelis of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Arrangements are by the Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
