Dale Ray Griffy, son of the late Ralph Griffy and Dixie Siler Griffy, was born on April 26, 1933, at Puxico and died in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at the age of 69. Mr. Griffy was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter where he was currently serving as a Trustee and a former Deacon, a former employee of Southwestern Bell for 33 years, working the engineering department, a veteran of the United States Army in the Korean War, a board member of the Stoddard County Gospel Mission, an avid fisherman, elk hunter and woodcraftsman. He loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. He was united in marriage to Pauline Eskew on Aug. 31, 1956, at Dexter. Mrs. Griffy survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Greg Davis of Imperial and Karen and Rocky Davis of Jackson; three grandchildren, Katie Davis, Zachary Davis and Cody Davis; one brother, Carroll Griffy of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Linda Hallmark of Wappapello, Margie Mathis and Anna Jean Griffy, both of Dexter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Griffy and David Griffy; two sisters, Erthel Griffy and Derthel Griffy. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter. Memorials may be made to The Stoddard County Gospel Mission. PAID
