Mildred Mae Gibson, daughter of the late James Davenport and Mary Nola McDaniel Davenport, was born on April 17, 1911, at Bloomfield and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at the age of 91. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, a homemaker and resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Grover Wilson Gibson on July 5, 1930, at Dexter. Mr. Gibson preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1994. Survivors include one son, Harold Gibson of Dexter; one daughter, Helen Hall of Dexter; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Eugene Gibson; one daughter, Wanda Eloise Gibson; one grandson, Terry Gibson; one great-grandson, Jerod Gibson; two brothers, Doyle "Bud" Davenport and William "Buster" Davenport; one sister, Juanita Hall. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vyron Young and Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
