Earl Eugene Christian, the son of the late Winford Dudley and Maude Ann Menley Christian, was born on Feb. 2, 1922, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at the age of 80. Mr. Christian was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. On May 15, 1952, he was married to Margaret Strickland. She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1993. Surviving are five sons: Winford and Earl, Jr. Christian, both of Dexter. Ronald and Johnny Christian, both of Bloomfield, and Louis Miller of Holland, Mich.; six daughters, Brenda Griffee of Spring City, Tenn., Barbara Lahmann, Marilyn Case and Patricia Black, all of Bloomfield, Sheila Jones of Dexter, Teresa Bell of Tampa, Fla.; 29 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Lavern Christian of Dexter and Owen Christian of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sisters, Annie Thorne and Irene Leek of Flint, Mich., and Lillian Orton of Dexter. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Opal Christian; one brother, Lotes Lee Christian; and two sisters, Flora Williams and Wanda Hamilton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
