Martin John Reiter, son of the late John Adam and Emma Ida Meyer Reiter, was born at Puxico on May 6, 1912, and died Dec. 12, 2002, at Three Rivers North Campus in Poplar Bluff at the age of 90. Mr. Reiter was a lifelong resident of the Puxico community and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer and electrician and had served as New Lisbon Township Assessor and Collector. On June 16, 1928, he was married to Avis Mildred Potter, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 1996. One brother and two sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, John Reiter of Puxico and Ernest Reiter of Franklin, Ky.; two daughters, Gertrude Killian of Cape Girardeau and Claudette Jines of Dexter; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one step-great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren. No visitation was held. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico.
