Robert Vernon "Coop" Cooper, the son of the late Charles and Verna Mae Trial Cooper, was born in Jefferson City on June 29, 1928, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Dec. 3, 2002, at the age of 74. Mr. Cooper had lived in St. Louis for many years where he was a self-employed musician. He had lived in Dexter the past 22 years with the exception of three years he spent in Springfield. On Nov. 6, 1963, he was married to Martha Powell in St. Louis. Surviving are his wife, Martha Cooper of Dexter; two sons, Robert David Cooper and Edward Cooper, both of Somerset, Ky.; three daughters, Lynn Hunsaker of Morrisville, Carolyn Jordan of Morehouse, and Charlotte Kitchen of Dexter; one step-son, Charles Powell of Dudley; one step-daughter, Frances Powell of Fisk; 14 grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Hogan of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Adrian Parker of Paragould, Ark., officiating. Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
