Anna Chafin, daughter of the late Forest Wilson and Addie Page Wilson, was born on Nov. 6, 1928, at Fremont, Mich., and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at the age of 74. Mrs. Chafin was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the V.F.W. in Wappapello, Lodge #3416 Ladies' Auxiliary since 1983 having served as 15th District president and treasurer for 17 years. She was a resident of Wappapello. She was united in marriage to Freddie Marlin Chafin on Oct. 3, 1953, at Fremont, Mich., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1993. Survivors include one son, Larry Chafin of Williamsville; one daughter, Carolyn Lewis of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Leigh Wilson of Muskegon, Mich.; one sister, Pat Mecoff of Muskegon, Mich.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Forest Wilson. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larie Burdine officiating. Interment will follow in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
