Minnie Garner Baker, the daughter of the late George Washington and Millie Nance Boyles, was born in Cardwell on Sept. 28, 1912, and died at the home of her daughter in New Madrid on Nov. 13, 2002, at the age of 90. Mrs. Baker had lived most of her life in Dexter and the last two years in New Madrid. She was a homemaker and a member of the Victory Temple in Dexter. Surviving are one daughter, Ann Strasser of New Madrid; two sons, Don Garner of Dexter and Richard Jordan of New Madrid; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Norman; three brothers, Arthur, Ransom and Milo Boyles; and one sister, Lectie Johnson. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Chuck Hull of Puxico officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
