Jean F. Rhodes, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Whithington Requarth, was born Feb. 17, 1931, at St. Louis and died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 71. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church and also a member of the TNT Women's Club of Advance. She had also been a Girl Scout leader. On Jan. 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Bill Rhodes at Advance, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1993. Survivors include her mother, Margaret Lockhart of Dexter; a son, Billy Rhodes of Advance; two daughters, Kathy Kinder of Sikeston and Amy Winchester of Advance; a brother, Gerry Requarth of Murray, Ky.; a sister, Jane Ann Pindell of Dexter; five grandchildren, G.W. Gilmore, III of Sikeston, Leeanne Price of Mt. Carmel, Ill., Amanda Bird of Advance, Abby Winchester of Advance, Billy Rhodes, III of Advance; and two great-granddaughters, Hallie Jean of Advance and Alexis Price of Mt. Carmel, Ill. Her father preceded her in death. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Advance United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Zych officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Dale Wiseman. Interment at a later date will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance. Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home. Morgan Funeral Home in Advance is in charge of arrangements. PAID
