Thelma James

Thelma Louise James, the daughter of Bernie and Lillie Hindman Shell, was born on Sept. 12, 1910, at Zalma and died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 92. Mrs. James was formerly of Puxico. She had a teaching career of 38 years and retired from the Puxico School District. Mrs. James was a member of Oak Grove General Baptist Church near Duck Creek. On Nov. 20, 1933, she and Arthur James were united in marriage. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Fish of Puxico and Connie Zimmer of St. Charles; one sister, Frieda Gray of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Morgan Funeral chapel in Advance. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. Clayton Smith and Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Interment followed in Bollinger County Memorial Park in Marble Hill.
