Elmo Jones, son of the late Stanley G. Jones and Veda Gluber Jones, was born on July 22, 1922, at Graham, Texas, and died in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston on Oct. 30, 2002, at the age of 80. Mr. Jones was a former boiler technician at the John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WW II and the Korean War and a resident of Essex. He was united in marriage to Patsy Mofield on Nov. 10, 1965, at Essex. Mrs. Jones preceded him in death on April 30, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Mick Jones of Essex and Kenneth Mofield of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and seven grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelley Dale Jones; one brother, Stanley Jones; and one sister, Mary Norman. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. W.H. Worth and Rev. Dale Shearon officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
