Ivan Ray White

'Ivan Ray White, son of the late Rufus and Minnie Shride White, was born at Dalton, Ark. and died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Manila Nursing Center in Manila, Ark. at the age of 87. He lived in Bernie for 45 years where he managed his farming and real estate interests. At his retirement in 1992, he returned to his Manila home where he became an active member of the Westside Baptist Church and church choir. Mr. White served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife Alma Ashabranner White; his brothers, Albert, Doyle and Daily White. He is survived by three brothers, Clifford White of Leachville, Ark., Paul White of Imboden, Ark. and Jewell White of Silsbee, Texas; two sisters, Bessie Griffin Hetler of Manila and Marie Robertson of Melbourne, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Howard Funeral Chapel of Manila. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Westside Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Doyne officiating. Interment will follow in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church in Manila.
