Jake Freeman Hamby, son of the late Jesse Cobert and Geneva Fitzpatrick Hamby, was born at Bloomfield on April 27, 1926, and died at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Oct. 29, 2002, at the age of 76. Mr. Hamby had spent most of his life in the Bloomfield community and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. On June 28, 1947, he was married to Imogene Taylor, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2000. Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Wyatt of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Cristy Dixon of Dexter, Terri Ann Hann, Marty Wyatt and Sarah Walker, all of Bloomfield; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Robinson and Vevlean Clary, both of Dexter. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Rick Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Hills Cemetery near Bloomfield. PAID
