Mitchell McLard, the son of the late Franklin Earl and Rubie Lucille Tankersley McLard, was born in Poplar Bluff on Sept. 11, 1946, and died at his home in Sikeston on Oct. 15, 2002, at the age of 56. Mr. McLard had lived in Bennington, Neb., for the past 16 years and moved to Sikeston in April, 2002. He was a retired mileage data engineer with the railroad. On Oct. 14, 1967, he was married to Carol Cossey in Dexter. Surviving are his wife, Carol McLard of Sikeston; one daughter, Kelly Rodriguez of Fremont, Neb.; one son, Gregory McLard of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Burns and Pat Miller, both of Dexter, Frances McLard of Dudley, Ruth Worley of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Michael McLard of Chaffee, and Ed McLard of Dexter. He was preceded in death by one brother, J.R. McLard. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Jimmie Vent of Morehouse and the Rev. Billy Anders of Chaffee officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
