Bill Howard, son the Charles Oscar and Jessie Falsom Odum Howard, was born on March 11, 1929, in Marion, Ill., and died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at the Lutheran Home. Mr. Howard was a maintenance worker 25 years at General Motors in St. Louis, retiring in 1980. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1998 and was a member of River City Workers of the Blind and Westside Senior Citizens. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 12, 1950, to Sept. 12, 1952. He received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Camp Star, United Nations Service Medal, and an overseas bar. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jane Hance of Belle, Michelle Hendrix of Sturdivant, Shirley Luczak of Wentzville, and Marilyn Koeppel of Columbia; one stepson, Mike Meyer of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Charles and Jack Howard of Warsaw; four sisters, Dana Irwin of Perkins, Bonnie Lennington of Jackson, Virginia Osborne of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ella Brewer of Marion; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, a granddaughter, and a great-grandchild. Visitation was held from noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Ford and Sons Mp Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Price officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Advance.
