Elbert L. Sadler

Elbert Leander Sadler, the son of the late Richard L. and Lily Ramsey Sadler, was born in Bernie on May 8, 1921, and died at his home in Aid on Sept. 29, 2002, at the age of 81. Mr. Sadler had lived in the Aid community since 1949. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. On March 31, 1951, he was married to Carzenia Masterson in Piggott, Ark. Surviving are his wife: Carzenia Sadler of Aid; two daughters, Linda Allen of Amarillo, Texas, and Janet Smith of Dexter; four grandchildren, Kathryn Bradley, Jennifer Nieman, Gabriel Sweeney, and Eric Hendrix; two great-grandchildren, Alex Bradley and Adriene Nieman; two sisters, Eleanor Leirer of Gideon, and Louise Smith of Dexter; two brothers, Marion Sadler of Austin, Texas, and Reeves Sadler of Tucson, Ariz. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Ralph Sadler, and three sisters, Alberta Fulkerson, Lavern Dowdy, and Reba McFerron. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie with the Rev. Jerry Summers of Poplar Bluff officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. PAID
