David A. Ivy

David A. Ivy, son of the late Frank Ivy and Sarah (Terry) Ivy, was born on Feb. 27, 1931, in Nevada, and died on Sept. 23, 2002, in rural Jefferson County, Ill., at the age of 71. At the time of his death, he was employed by Casner Township. Prior to that he had worked for Baldridge Concrete and had retired from Southern Illinois Asphalt. He had been owner-operator of Boyd Store for a period of time. He was owner of Ivy Concrete. On July 7, 1939, he was married to Delphia (McDowell) Ivy in Piggott, Ark. She survives of the home located in Woodlawn, Ill. Other survivors include one son, Larry David Ivy of Woodlawn; one daughter, Sharon Coultas, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; four brothers, Raymond Ivy of Dexter, Jerrel Ivy of Galion, Ohio, Darrell Ivy of Delaware, Ohio, Richard Ivy of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Alveda Castle of Galion, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Eugene Ivy, and one sister Virginia Awbrey. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Ill. The funeral was conducted at 1:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Calvary United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Steve Edwards and Rev. Steve Piercy officiating. Interment followed at Boyd Cemetery in Jefferson County, Ill.
