Lula Bell Bess, 65, of Bell City, was born Dec. 21, 1936, at Advance, the daughter of the late Rosewell and Mona Mae Bess, and died Sept. 19, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Miss Bess worked in the fitting department for 30 years at the Inland Shoe Company in Advance. She was a member of the General Baptist Church in Bell City, where she had been a Sunday school teacher; she was also a member of the Bell City Ladies of Aid. Survivors include two brothers, Steve Bess of Sikeston and Earl Bess of Cape Girardeau; seven sisters, Dorthy Phegley of Perkins, Coline McCormack of Xenia, Ill., Wanda Rayles of Kokomo, Ind., Glenda Seegrave of Rector, Ark., Remona Bess, Vera Mason and Barbara Hoosier, all of Bell City. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with Rev. Mike Triplett officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
