Anita Geary

Anita Geary, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Ramsey Polley, was born in Ackerman, Miss., on Dec. 23, 1918, and died at the Salem Nursing Center in Salem on Sept. 14, 2002, at the age of 83. Mrs. Geary had lived in Bird?s Corner from 1937 to 1964. She then moved to Dexter where she lived until moving to Salem two years ago. She was of the Protestant faith. On March 2, 1935, she was married to Jesse Geary in Osceola, Ark. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1985. Surviving are two sons, Lee Geary of Salem, and Lawrence Geary of Aquilla; one brother, Charley Polley of St. Louis; one sister, Helen Donaldson of Kimswick; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Visitation was held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Bill Stack of Salem officiating. Interment followed in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
