Anna Jenkins Bidewell, 93, of Advance, was born near Advance on March 21, 1909, the daughter of the late William and Maude Helderman Jenkins, and died Sept. 5, 2002, at the Advance Nursing Center. She was united in marriage to Glen Bidewell on April 12, 1928, near Bloomfield and he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1971. Mrs. Bidewell was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and youth director. She was a member and past Matron of the Advance Chapter #412 of the O.E.S. In 1968 she served as the 50th District Deputy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Missouri O.E.S. and served as Grand Representative of the Missouri O.E.S. for three years. She also was a member and past president of the Ladies Scottish Rite of Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Bidewell was instrumental in organizing the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Memorial Association; she served as treasurer for 13 years. She also was a member and past president of the Wednesday Study Club. Survivors include one sister Myrtle Hitt of Advance. Three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Visitation will be held today, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, from 5-8 , with O.E.S. rites at 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the United Methodist Church in Advance with Rev. Tom Zych officiating. Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
