Wilma Rayburn

Wilma Lee Rayburn, the daughter of the late Eli Franklin and Ida Fields Payne, was born in Essex on Nov. 18, 1946, and died at her home in Arnold on Sept. 2, 2002, at the age of 55 years. Mrs. Rayburn was a homemaker and had also worked as a nurse?s aide at the Sikeston Hospital. She had lived in Sikeston for 35 years before moving to Arnold this past April. On Nov. 19, 1962, she was married to David Eugene Rayburn in Charleston. Surviving are her husband David E. Rayburn of Arnold; three sons, Harold David Rayburn of Valley Park, Carl Allen Rayburn of Sikeston, and Charles Joseph Rayburn of Exeter; one daughter, Shirley Kay Powers of Florissant; two brothers, Freddie Payne of Eureka, and James Payne of Exeter; three sisters, Jewell Hinshaw of Fenton, Mary Edna Payne and Bessie Purler, both of Exeter; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Loyd Latham of Sikeston officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
