Lamona Backus

Lamona Backus, daughter of the late Henry DeWitt Becker and Agnes Braswell Becker, was born on Sept. 15, 1939, at London, Ark., and died at her residence near Dexter on Aug. 17, 2002, at the age of 62. Mrs. Backus was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, had done cleaning in area homes and was a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Backus on Dec. 29, 1963, at Bell City and to this union three children were born. Mr. Backus preceded her in death on June 25, 1995. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Melissa Backus of Jackson, and Todd and Amy Backus of Puxico; by one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Steve Ward of Dexter; by two brothers, Desmond Becker and Dalton Becker, both of Dexter; by four grandchildren, Bradley Backus, Brandon Backus, Kyle Ward and Matt Ward. Visitation was held after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, in the Dexter Church of Christ with Michael Yates, Jim Faughn, and Dale Grissom officiating. Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the 18 Fore Life Cancer Support Group in care of Scott Kruse, 10632 Apache Village, Dexter, Mo. 63841. PAID
