Vincent Oxley

Vincent Edward Oxley, son of the late Floyd Oxley and Mae Vincent Oxley, was born on Aug. 28, 1921, at Marshfield, Mo., and died at his residence in Bernie on Aug. 16, 2002, at the age of 80. Mr. Oxley attended the United Methodist Church of Bernie, was a college professor at Central Missouri State University of Warrensburg, and was a resident of Bernie. He was united in marriage to Loreda Charles on May 6, 1941, in Malden. She preceded her husband in death on Aug. 7, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Charles Oxley of Cape Girardeau and Reggie Oxley of St. Augustine, Fla; one daughter, Kathie Peoples of Phoenix, Ariz.; two step-sisters Clara Harvey of Campbell and Mary Bennett of Qulin; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
