James Leo Williams, son of the late William Harrison Williams and Lucy Livingston, was born on June 18, 1931 at Dexter and died in the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on August 15, 2002 at the age of 71. Mr. Williams attended the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was also a retired boiler maker for Monarch Steel in the Bay area of California and was a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Wanda Belcher Jones on April 2, 1989 at Powe. Mrs. Williams survives of the home in Dexter. Aside from his wide, he is survived by three step-sons, John Paul Jones, Sr., of Rector, Ark., Ronnie Lee Jones and Larry B. Jones, both of Bloomfield; one step-daughter, Wanda Sue Bellers, of Piggott, Ark., by two sisters, Clorine Shipman and Theota Litzler, both of Dexter; by 10 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Lee Williams and by one sister, Marie Allstun. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, August 17, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m., Sunday, August 18, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
