William L. Lucas, 66, of Wappapello, was born Sept. 11, 1935, the son of the late Lewis and Elene Griffith Lucas, and died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at his home. Mr. Lucas was a retired gunnery sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a Fleet Reserve member. He was also a member of Oglesville General Baptist Church. Mr. Lucas was united in marriage on June 1, 1977, to Norma Jean Wilcox, and she survives of the home. Other survivors include four sons, William Lucas, Jr., of Coryville, Tenn., Darrell Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., Holland Wilcox of St. Louis, and Charles Wilcox of Qulin; four daughters, Mildred Blankenship of Jacksboro, Tenn., Patricia Stewart of Bloomington, Ind., Rhonda Hager of St. Louis, and Cindy Fischer of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Harry Allen Lucas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. Doug Richmond officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
