Lawrence E. ?Gene? Williams, the son of the late Lawrence Dave and Eula Smith Williams was born at Advance, on January 13, 1933 and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, August 13, 2002 at the age of 69. He formerly lived in Advance and in St. Louis for many years where he was a supervisor at Combustion Engineering in St. Louis. He moved to Dexter in 1982. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Dexter. May 22, 1954 he was married to Frankie Prichard. She preceded him in death June 1, 2002. Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Michael and Kristi Williams, of Dexter; Steve and Diane Williams, of Florissant; three grandsons, Jacob Williams, of Dexter; Thomas and Jonathan Williams, of Florissant; five sisters, Georgia Robbins, of Sullivan; Betty Nettler, of Advance; Lois Arsta, of Columbia; Reta VanMatre, of Dexter; and Sandra Smith, of Clarkton. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death, James and Johnny Williams and Anna Robins. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Friends may call at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m., Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel Sunday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Fred Leist of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery at Dexter. PAID
