Dorothy E. Phillips, the daughter of the late William Wiley and Bertha Mae Coats Graves, was born in Dexter on November 21, 1913, and died at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Dexter on July 27, 2002, at the age of 88 years. Mrs. Phillips had resided in Dexter all her life and attended church services at the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. On Nov. 17, 1929, she was married to Albert Phillips in Dexter. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1969. Surviving are one son, Marion ?Bud? Phillips of Dexter; one daughter, Helen Robinett of Dexter; four sisters, Gladys Wilburn of Dexter, Mamie Campbell of Essex, Irene Carter of Springfield, Mo., and Lorene Eaton of Morehouse; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Clifford Wray of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
