James Jennings, Sr.

James Chester Jennings, Sr., son of the late Carrie Jennings Chase and step-son of the late Sylvester Chase was born on Dec. 5, 1915 at Dexter and died in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Mich., on Sunday, July 14, 2002, at the age of 86. Mr. Jennings was a member of the Waterford Community Church in Waterford, Mich., a former tool and dye maker with General Motors, a W.W. II veteran serving in the United States Army and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was united in marriage to Aurellia Ione Minton on May 25, 1940 at Napoleon, Ohio. Mrs. Jennings survives of the home in Clarkston, Mich. Other survivors include two sons, James Chester Jennings, Jr., of Clarkston, Mich., and Roy Burton Jennings, of Sunbury, Ohio; two daughters, Beverly Jane Anderson of Clarkston, Mich., and Karen Ethel Jennings of Lake Orion, Mich.; and by two sisters-in-law, Gladys Chase, of Dexter, and Hester Chase, of Branson; by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Chase and Cecil Chase. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 20, in the Pleasant Grove Church near Dexter with Rev. Ron Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Sycamore Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Community Church. PAID
