Mary Jo Smith

Mary Jo Smith, daughter of the late Manual Welch and Daisy Rusche Welch was born on May 6, 1935 in Gray Ridge and died at the Missouri Southern Health Care in Dexter, on June 28, 2002 at the age of 67. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter and also attended the Word of God Church in Dexter. She was a devoted Christian, and a retired telephone operator with Southwestern Bell. She was united in marriage to Louie McCollough, who preceded her in death. On September 5, 1972 she married Charles A. Smith, he survives of the home in Dexter. Other survivors include one son; Michael W. Mccollough of Dexter, three brothers; Bob Welch of Dexter, Bill Welch of Huntsville, Al. Mike Welch of Hattiesburg, MS., three step-sons; Chuck Smith of Bloomfield, Mike Smith of Advance, David Chad Smith of Dexter, three step-daughters; Marie Oliver, and Lisa Smith both of Bloomfield, and Kelly Edwards of Dexter, also by sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Welch. Graveside Services were conducted at 10 a.m., Monday July 1, at the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Doyle Corlew officiating.
