Billy Gene Glass, Sr. of the late Murl ?Bill? and Ruth Virginia Carter Glass was born in Bernie, on Sept 9, 1939, and died at his home near Bloomfield, on June 22, 2002, at the age of 62. Mr. Glass had lived in Bernie for many years before moving to Bloomfield 25 years ago and was a retired foreman with the Brown Shoe Co. and was a member of the Kimball Street Baptist Church in Malden. On January 30, 1959, he was married to Phyllis Russell in Vinson, Mo. Surviving are four sons; Joshua Glass of Essex, Billy Gene Glass, Jr. of North Port Fla., Richard Glass of Pleasant Hope, Mo., Marcus Glass of Bloomfield, one daughter; Evelyn Denise Gregg of Pleasant Hope, one brother; Charles Glass of Bloomfield, one sister; Brenda Wilson of Henderson, Ky. and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother; Carl Glass in 1992 and three sisters; Helen and Evelyn Glass, and Charlene Litton in 1998. Visitation was held Sunday, June 23, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral Services were conducted Monday, June 24, at 1 P.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, with Rev. Sonny Floyd of St. Louis, officiating. Interment followed in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
