Floyd William Harris, son of the late John and Bertie Sims Harris, was born near Advance on Aug. 29, 1917, and died in the Beverly Healthcare at Bloomfield on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the age of 84. On Jan. 13, 1940, he was united in marriage to the former Thelma Williams and she survives of the home in Dexter. Mr. Harris worked as an auto dealer before his retirement and served in the U.S.. Army during World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield and of Masonic Lodge #488 in Detroit, Mich. Besides his wife, Thelma Harris, he is survived by one son, Jack Harris of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Judy Dall of Farmington Hills, Mich.; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be held at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 4, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Dunivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
