Ruth Parks

Ruth Cooper Parks, formerly of Vanduser, daughter of the late Wesley and Joanna England Cooper, was born Oct. 24, 1901 in Comanche, Texas and died Monday, May 27, 2002, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield, at the age of 100. Mrs. Parks was a member of the First Church of God in Vanduser. She was united in marriage to John N. Parks and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Nadine Partain of Advance, Lorine Griffin of Bloomfield, and Opal Bezold of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren. Visitation was held at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston on Tuesday, May 28 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were held, today, Wednesday, May 29 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Virgil Bunch, a retired Methodist minister and Rev. Kevin Eskew, pastor of First General Baptist Church at Bloomfield, co-officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley with Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
