Norma Maywah Bennett, daughter of the late Harve D. Stroup and Nellie Keating Stroup, was born on Oct. 16, 1916 near Bloomfield and departed this life in the Cypress Point Nursing Center at Dexter on May 22, 2002, at the age of 85. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, the former co-owner of Bennett Appliance in Dexter for 34 years, a 50 year member of the Dexter Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #311 and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Henry Bennett on June 16, 1935 at Bloomfield. Mr. Bennett preceded her in death on April 6, 1999. Survivors include one son, Dr. Thomas Bennett of Bowling Green, Ohio; by one brother, J.L. Stroup of Bloomfield; by one sister, Miza Eisenhart of Dexter; by a special friend, Bob Espada of Dexter; by five grandchildren, Dr. Jay Musgrave of Cape Girardeau, Kip Musgrave of Dexter, Mikelyn Kiefer of Ballwin, Mo., Brooke Bennett of Bowling Green, Ohio and Baron Bennett of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jo Nell Bennett Rehm; and by one brother, Tom Stroup. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 12 - 2 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2002. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Stoddard County A.R.C., American Cancer Society or the Second General Baptist Church. PAID
