Billy Joe Walker, the son of the late Charles Edward and Damie Whitehead Walker, was born in Naylor on July 1, 1931, and died in Rockford, Ill., on April 24, 2002, at the age of 70. Mr. Walker had lived in Neelyville for 17 years and he was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are two sons, Jed Walker of Aurora, Ill. , and Brent Walker, of St. Charles, Mich.; two daughters: Tonya Haas of Rockford, Ill. and Jody Walker of Frisco, Texas; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Anna May Flippin of Dudley, Nora Keesee of Malden; and one brother, Charles Walker, of Dexter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Downey, Lillie Boyle, and Lela Adams; and two brothers, Alvie and Norman Walker. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, at 11:30 a.m. at the Bethany Cemetery near Malden. Graveside funeral services will then be conducted at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery near Malden with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in Dexter in charge of arrangements.
