Arthur Dale Johnson, son of the late Arthur "Jack" Johnson and Evadne Smith Johnson, was born on Aug. 14, 1921 at Bernie and departed this life in the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on May 7, 2002, at the age of 80. Mr. Johnson was in the United States Army during World War II. He later worked at General Motors in Flint, Mich. as a Quality Controller until his retirement. He was also a member of the American Legion of Malden, Mo. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Sue Morgan of Dexter, Mo. and Deborah Ann Hobgood of Bernie, Mo.; by one sister, Joan Kittel of Bernie, Mo.; by five grandchildren, Rebecca Tanner and Derek Hobgood, both of Bernie, Mo., Shane Mansker of Corning, Ark., Cara Eaton and Devon Guethle, both of Dexter, Mo.; and by three great-grandchildren, Zachary Tanner, Kayli Tanner and Dalton Hobgood, all of Bernie, Mo. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Joseph Dale Johnson. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie form 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002 in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel with Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements. PAID
