Kristy Lynn Becker, the daughter of Donald Ray and Geneva Wallace Hastings, was born in Sikeston, Mo., on June 26, 1970, and died as the result of an automobile accident east of Charleston on Saturday, April 27, 2002, at the age of 31. Mrs. Becker had lived in Matthews and Sikeston most of her life and had lived in Dexter the past three years. She was a Social Studies teacher at the T.S. Hill Middle School in Dexter. She also had taught at the Kenny Rodgers Cerebral Palsy Center in Sikeston and at the middle school at New Madrid. She attended the First Baptist Church in Dexter and was a member of the Little Vine Baptist Church near Matthews. She also was a member of the Missouri State Teacher Association. On Feb. 19, 2000, she married Brian Becker of Dexter at Runaway Bay, Jamaica. Surviving are her husband, Brian Becker of Dexter; two sons, Christian Andrew Stallings and Lucas Kyle Andrew Becker, both of the home in Dexter; her parents, Donald Ray and Geneva Wallace Hastings of Sikeston; two brothers, Don Hastings II, of Matthews and Wallace Hastings of Kewanee; and her maternal grandmother, Violet Wallace of East Prairie. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Visitation was held Monday April 29, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 30, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel, Dexter, with the Rev. Martin Lucas of East Prairie and the Rev. Wayne Dismuke of Dexter officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Sikeston, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
