J. Wicecarver

John L. Wicecarver of Leawood, Kan., the son of the late L.O. and Ora Mae Doggit Wicecarver, was born Jan. 6, 1922 in Malden and died April 16, 2002, at the age of 80. Mr. Wicecarver was a graduate of Malden High School and the University of Little Rock, Ark. He was a lawyer, retired in 1982 as a banker for Belle Bland Bank after 30 years and served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Malden Lions Club and of the Leawood United Methodist Church in Leawood, Kan. He was united in marriage to Betty Joan Anderson Wicecarver in Dexter and she preceded him in death in 1996. Survivors include two sons, John L. Wicecarver III of Leawood, Kan. and Thomas S. Wicecarver of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Carol Jo Tracy of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Karen Sampson of Gardner, Kan.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. There will be a private family memorial service at the Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner, Kan. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association in C/O Bruce Funeral Home, P.O.
