Stella Mae Connor, daughter of the late Charles Downen and Elsie Brown Downen, was born at Essex, Mo. and departed this life on April 10, 2002 at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Hospital in Dexter. Mrs. Connor was a housewife, a former resident of Essex and Parma, Mo. and was currently living in Dexter for the last four years. She was united in marriage to William Raymond Connor in 1927 at Leachville, Ark. Mr. Connor preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1978. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Kay and David A. Dierks of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, William Jay Downen of Bloomfield, Mo.; by one grandson, Michael A. Dierks of Boston, Mass.; by extended family, Clay, Dixie, Ronnie and Nickki Prough of Dexter; also by other relatives and many friends. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 2 - 6 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2002 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Children's Make-A-Wish Foundation. PAID
