John Nunn

John L. Nunn, the son of the late Proctor and Ada Ann Calhorn Nunn, was born in Lilbourn on Dec., 21, 1931 and died at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on March 30, 2002, at the age of 70. Mr. Nunn was a resident of Parma after moving from St. Louis in 1989. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a life-time member of the Malden VFW Post, as well as the American Legion in Malden and member of the Eagles Lodge of Dexter. On Dec. 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Virginia Banks in Ky. and to this union three daughters were born. On Aug. 30, 1996 he was united in marriage to Ruby Beaird Machen in Parma, she survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Teresa Wittenberg of Estacada, Ore., Leisa Oldfield and Paula Blair, both of Franklin, Ohio; by three stepsons, Jimmy Machen of Malden, Timmy Machen of Dexter and Terry Machen of Norfolk, Va.; by one brother, Everett Nunn of Dexter; by one sister, Lou Brewer of Bernie; by six grandchildren; by four step-grandchildren; and by one step-great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, four brothers, and step-daughter. Visitation was held on Monday, April 1, 2002 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Funeral services were held, today, Tuesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Bro. Stan Dauck of Bernie officiating. Interment followed in the Mounds Cemetery in New Madrid with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Parma in charge of arrangements.
