Helen Welker

Helen Lorene Welker, daughter of the late Wilmer and Myrtie Garner Dunlop was born at Bell City on Dec. 14, 1916 and passed away at Parkland Health Center in Farmington, Mo., on March 28, 2002 at the age of 85. Mrs. Welker was a resident of Bloomfield where she had spent most of her life. She retired from Elder Manufacturing Co., in 1982 after several years of service. On Dec. 11, 1933 she was married to Sam Welker. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2001. Survivors include one son, Sammie Welker of Bloomfield; two daughters, Jean Dunaway of Bonne Terre and Mary Cook of St. Louis; one brother, Garner Dunlap of Bell City; three sisters, Mary Ayers of Albuquerque, NM, Dobbie Sullivan of Annapolis and Ida Armes of Caryville, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends survive to mourn her passing. Aside from her parents, one daughter, Winni Jo, preceded her in death. Visitation started at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 30, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.
