Effie C. Stephens of McGee, the daughter of the late William "Bill" and Effie Wells Wymer, was born May 14, 1919 at Fair Oaks, Ark. and died March 25, 2002 at her daughter's home in McGee, at the age of 82. Effie was Postmaster at McGee for over 27 years and was a member of Shady Dell General Baptist Church. She and husband were also owners of Stephen's Store at McGee for 40 years. She was united in marriage to Elza Stephens on Feb. 11, 1937 at Zalma and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1995. Survivors include one son, James Allen Stephens of McGee; two daughters, Lucille Andrews of McGee and Marie Sue Robertson of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Norvell Wymer of Hickory Ridge, Ark.; one sister, Almeda Bennett of McCrory, Ark.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Visitation will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Wednesday, March 27 from 4:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Morgan Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 28 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the New Hope McGee Cemetery near McGee with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
