Homer F. Evans, the son of the late Fred and Myrtle Swank Evans, was born Oct. 19, 1916 in Fairview, Mo. and died at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on March 20, 2002, at the age of 85. Mr. Evans had lived in Wis., Ill., Ky. and St. Louis before retiring and moving to Puxico in 1972. He was a retired claims adjuster with Continental Insurance Company and had served in the United States Army during World War II, as a Staff Sgt. On April 1, 1939, he was united in marriage to Mona Green in Hickman, Ky., she survives of the home in Puxico. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Debbie Combs of Cookeville, Tenn. and Susan Jackson of Puxico; and by four grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ferral Champ Evans. Visitation will be held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico on Friday, March 22 after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico with Military Rites presented by the Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff.
