Chalmer Ray Elsworth of Malden, son of the late Homer Cleveland Elsworth and Madgie Bell Partin Elsworth was born on Sept. 13, 1935 at Bernie and died in the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on March 19, 2002, at the age of 66. Mr. Elsworth was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Bernie, a retired inside truck driver for Elmhurst Chicago Stone of Elmhurst, Ill. He was united in marriage to Doris Jean Boone on Aug. 24, 1956 at Bernie. Mrs. Elsworth survives of the home in Malden. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Reggie Ray Elsworth of Gideon, Robert Wayne Elsworth of Parma, and Kevin Dale Elsworth of Malden; by two daughters, Regina Kay Carmickle of Hinckley, Ill. and Pamela Jean Smith of Gideon; by two brothers, Glendle Elsworth of Malden and Hershel Elsworth of Dexter; by three sisters, Louise Hobgood of Bernie, Laurissa (Jean) Brandon and Brenda Brown, both of Dexter; and eight grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Elsworth; by two sisters, Linda Elsworth and Donis Elsworth; by one granddaughter, Dawn Marie Elsworth. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 20. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 21 with Rev. Jim Esque officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements.
