James Edward Hopper, the son of the late L.V. and Lois Ella Flatt Hopper, was born in Lexington, Tenn., on Sept. 19, 1948, and died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at his home in Morehouse at the age of 54. Mr. Hopper had lived in Matthews and Sikeston until moving to Morehouse two years ago. He is survived by one son, Tim Hopper of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Ella L. Long of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Mike Burton and Randy Hopper, both of Sikeston, Andy Hopper of Adamsville, Tenn., and William Hopper of Rockford, Ill.; three sisters, Doris Heavener of Sikeston, Joyce Sissom of Sweet Lips, Tenn., and Barbara Flanigan of Morehouse. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Tyler Hopper, and one daughter, Barbara Hopper. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse with Rev. Titus Davis of Cape Girardeau officiating. Interment will follow in the New Morley Cemetery in Morley. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse is in charge of all arrangements.
