Joel Hiriam Fields, son of the late Jefferson Holiday Fields and Beatrice May Reedy Fields, was born on Dec. 3, 1910, at Morring, Tenn., and departed this life in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center at Dexter on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the age of 92. Mr. Fields was a former road maintenance worker for Liberty Township and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Willajean Idell Smith on June 10, 1933, at Portageville. Mrs. Fields preceded him in death on July 20, 1998. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Myrna Fields of Dexter; two grandchildren, Marion Fields and wife Teena of Dexter and Teresa Kapelski and husband Don of Dexter; five great-grandchildren, Joshua Fields and wife Amy, Rebecca Fields, Amanda Ezell and husband Cory, Betsy Kapelski and Tymon Kapelski; one great-great-grandchild, C.J. Ezell; two sisters, Francis Schoolfield of St. Charles, and Janette Golden of Kimberling City. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanne Fields; two brothers, Rufus Fields and Thomas Fields; five sisters, Clara Hayes, Virgie Smith, Irene Sebastian, Marie Espey, and Jewel Christopher. Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral service will then be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter. PAID
