Mary Colleen Homer, the daughter of the late W.C. and Edith Williams Cates, was born in Bloomfield on June 22, 1928, and died Monday, March 31, 2003, at the Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston at the age of 74. Mrs. Homer had lived in Bloomfield for many years and had lived in Dexter from 1966 to 1984. She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and was a retired teacher with the Bloomfield Public Schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. Mrs. Homer is survived by two sons, Bill Homer of Frisco, Texas, and Martin Homer of Overland Park, Kan.; one grandson; and one sister, Carol Walters of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Lee Cooper. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Fred Leist of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
