Esther Elizabeth Rice, the daughter of the late Carnelius and Anna Ensz Jantzen, was born in Plymouth, Neb., on Jan. 29, 1920, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Sunday, March 9, 2003, at the age of 83. Mrs. Rice had been a resident of Plymouth, Neb., until 1961 when she moved to Pacific where she lived until 1990 when she moved with her husband to Dexter. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter. On Dec. 8, 1961, she was married to Carl Victor Rice in Beatrice, Neb. Surviving are her husband, Carl Rice of Dexter; a daughter, Carla Bogue of Midway, Tenn.; one brother, Ernest Jantzen of Plymouth, Neb.; two sisters, Louise Jantzen of Beatrice, Neb., and Marie Classen of Salina, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter with the Rev. Keith Garland of Dexter officiating.
