Iva Irene Liggett, daughter of the late Charlie and Lillian Clary Workman, was born at Ardeola on Dec. 17, 1910, and passed away at her home near Bloomfield on Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at the age of 92. Mrs. Liggett was a member of the Bell City Assembly of God Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and song leader for many years and was employed as a cook at Bell City School for several years. On April 5, 1930, she was married to Herman Liggett, and he preceded her in death in 1980 after 50 years of marriage. Survivors include one son, Marlin Liggett of Hazelwood; five daughters, Zilpha Abernathy of Perryville, Linda Schroeder of Dexter, Barbara E. Merick of Bloomfield, Patsy Umfleet of Bell City, and Juanita Fisher of Dexter; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends survive to mourn her passing. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Liggett; one sister, Bertha King; and five brothers, Leonard Workman, Earl, Ralph, Paul, and Boyd Nunn. Friends may call at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 6-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Lynn Ash officiating. Interment will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield. PAID
